Our new Club House has taken environmental actions from the very beginning…
The sustainable tourism is a new concept which implies taking responsibility for the social and environmental impact generated by tourism. Following this line of thought, the new Club House from Hotel Cabaña del Lago is including new technologies, alternative sources of energy, and prioritizing the use of recycled materials. Together with a unique architecture in harmony with the natural environment, thus, providing the visitor with a privileged view of Lake Llanquihue.
“We have a sustainability area to optimize processes in order to save energy, applying social and environmental practices as part of our identity. That is how, Hotel Cabaña del Lago was the first 4 stars hotel to be awarded with the Distinción Turismo Sustentable (Sustainable Tourism Award) in the city of Puerto Varas”, commented Victor Wellmann, General Manager at Hotel Cabaña del Lago.
Accordingly, from the very beginning, the construction of the new Club House – located next to Phillipi hill, provided with a heated pool, a room with a panoramic view, an exercise room, among other amenities – considered recycled materials for exterior and interior coverings. Prioritizing the use of volcanic materials, recycled native wood, or alternatively, modified pine wood, avoiding the use of less renewable native wood.
Plus, the space is provided with aerothermics (clean energy) for heating and domestic hot water; and passive ventilation, which avoids the use of engines, thus, allowing the renewal of fresh air, without the need to open any windows.
Development of local providers
In order to foster local employability, Hotel Cabaña del Lago, Club del Lago and its Club House, work together with local collaborators, employing most of their workers from the same comuna (county) or nearby.
Additionally, the family business promotes the consumption of local products, boosting economic growth and welfare of the region where Club House is located.
